Simple Turkey Recipe
Here's a simple turkey recipe. This is an easy way to serve an elegant turkey
for dinner. Traditional for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, roast turkey is
delicious and good for you. This simple turkey recipe is very basic, great for
first timers.

Ingredients:
12 pound
whole turkey (thawed)
1/4 cup olive oil
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon
freshly ground pepper
Preheat oven to 350°F. Rinse thawed turkey
under cold water, inside and out, then dry with paper towels. Rub outside of
turkey lightly with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
A
turkey should be roasted 10 to 12 minutes per pound if it is not stuffed and 12
to 15 minutes per pound if it is stuffed.
You shouldn't cover a roast
turkey (or any roasting meat); because you want the skin to get a nice, deep
brown all over, and you don't want the turkey to steam in its own juices.
However, if the turkey begins to brown too quickly, well before it's likely to
be done, you can cover the brown parts loosely with aluminum foil. (This is
likely to happen with larger turkey.) Try to cover as little of the turkey as
possible so you don't create steam.
The turkey is done when you stick a
fork, in the meatiest part and clear juice (as opposed to pink) runs out. A meat
thermometer inserted into the part of the bird without touching the bone will
read 180°F. Do not overcook. Remove turkey from oven and let sit 15-30 minutes
before serving so that juices will run through.
Carve the turkey and
transfer to a serving tray.
